Whangarei Boys' High School Library is located in the main quad at the heart of the school. The Library has about 10,00 print books and over 1,000 Wheelers e-books and audio books. We have a large collection of Graphic Novels which are really popular. Internet access is through the Library's twenty computers as well as students using their BYOD devices as directed by their teacher.
Staffing & Opening Hours
The Library is staffed by a full time Library Manager, Mrs Dee Brooker email@example.com, and assisted by Duty Teachers and Student Librarians. The Library is open from 7 30 am to 3 30 pm during term time.

Most popular book in the Library
"Scythe" by Neil Shusterman is currently the most popular book in the Library. Read it and see why! It's sequel "Thunderhead"is just as good.
The inaugral Readers Cup for year 9s was held at WGHS Library in August 2018. Well done to our team. We will shortly be looking for a new team to take on other Northland schools.
Wheelers e-books and audio books
Wheelers e-books and audio books are available free to all staff and students of WBHS and are available 24/7. Search for and download the e-Platform app from your app store. Find the WBHS Library and login using your WBHS login. Browse and borrow an e-Book or an audio book to read or listen to on your device.
Comic book illustrator, Michel Mullipola wowed the students when he visited the Library in Term 1 2018. We are looking at getting some more authors or illustrators in 2019.
Margaret Mahy Book of the Year
"Aotearoa - the New Zealand story" by Gavin Bishop was named Margaret Mahy Book of the Year at the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.
In June 2018 author, Des Hunt visited the WBHS Library and loud bangs were heard from the Library as he used science demonstations to make his points about writing.

As part of Te Wiki o te Reo Maori, WBHS Library was proud to host Apirana Taylor, poet, author, actor, musician, painter and playwright performing his poetry and music to four Junior classes

Australian New Zealand Reference Centre
This database gives access to abstracts and full-text articles from international, Australian, and New Zealand magazines and New Zealand current events information. Includes full text of most New Zealand daily newspapers from as far back as 1990's.
Biography in Context
This database contains an extensive range of contemporary and historical biographies of notable people including New Zealanders. It is searchable by name, nationality and occupation.
Books & Authors
Covering adult, young adult and children's fiction and non-fiction it helps you identify new books to read. Search by author, title, subject, genre, character, and topic.

Health & Wellness Resource Center
This database provides authoritative answers to health and medical questions from over 700 health/medical journals and pamphlets. It covers topics like: mainstream and alternative medicines, nutrition, diet, fitness and disease. It also includes an online medical encyclopedia, dictionary, and links to relevant websites.
Literature Resource Center
This database contains critical essays and biographical information on over 100,000 authors, both historical and contemporary. It also includes information on major New Zealand authors.
New Oxford ShakespeareOnline
Full text, online access to the New Oxford Shakespeare Online inclouding; the Modern Critical Edition, the Critical Reference edition and the Authorship Companion.
New Zealand Geographic
The entire archive of the New Zealand Geographic magazine dating back to 1989 including access to current editions.
